Test and tagging at CMC's Head Office

This week, CMC had all office equipment at its head office in Melbourne test and tagged.


 

CMC EHS Compliance Manager Rola Abouassi said that approximately 281 different appliances were tagged and tested.

 

"The safety of our staff is one of the key goals in CMC's strategic plan and this audit has officially ensured that all our equipment complies. All equipment that was tagged and tested passed," Ms Abouassi said.

 

"The equipment used by our operations staff out on the field is tagged and tested more frequently, mostly on a six-monthly basis".

 

Under the Victorian Occupational Health and Safety Act (2004), employers have a legal obligation to ensure that the workplace and the plant at the workplace is safe and without risks to health. This means identifying whether there are any hazards associated with electrical equipment, assessing the associated risks and taking measures to eliminate or control those risks.

 

All appliances were tested with a Portable Appliance Tester and once the appliance passes the electrical testing process, it is then fitted with a durable, non-reusable tag.

 

We are pleased with the results and will be testing our other office sites in the new year.
