Get the edge on Fair Work Australia in Procurement


CMC Property Services will host an breakfast information session on Tuesday 14 October as part of the Ausclean 2014 Expo.

Keynote speaker Russell Jacob from the Office of the Fair Work Ombudsman will speak about Fair Work Australia’s involvement in procurement and contract sustainability in the Facility Management Services market.

The breakfast information session will be held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground with free breakfast and registration to the Ausclean 2014 Expo included.

Russell joined the office of the Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) in 2010 initially as the FWO Queensland State Manager.

He is currently the Director – Misclassification and Operational Support Services and specialises in the misclassification of employees as independent contractors and sham contracting arrangements.

Russell’s current team of inspectors inquires into and investigates misclassification and sham contracting arrangements relating to medium to large companies, specifically examining the supply chain with the intent of identifying the price maker and price taker.

Prior to joining the FWO, Russell worked for the Department of Human Services as a State investigations manager for seven years, and before that as an investigator with the Australian Army’s Special Investigations Branch.  Russell has worked as an investigator with the United Nations on two occasions.

Through his work with the FWO, Russell is keen to assist employers and companies to understand workplace laws that relate to employee v independent contractors decisions and issues relating to supply chains.
